Stay Safe, Stay Free
According to the National Family and Health Survey (NFHS), in the year 2015-16, approximately 6% of women in India, between 15 to 49 years, have experienced sexual violence at least once. You might not be one of them yet, but attackers do not come with the signboard!
The above statistics are only limited to sexual violence, however, in numerous assaults going on around the world and a woman has experienced at least one of them in her lifetime. Silence is no longer an option for women. Fighting against the wrong, even alone, is much superior to the state of terror. When you fight back, you teach attacker an essential lesson of life, a lesson to not think women as a weaker gender and prey on them.
To live free, women must feel safe and you will feel safe only when you are empowered to fight back. Self Defense is allowed under IPC Section 96, Section 97, Section 102, Section 105, and Section 106. You should always keep quick to use and easy to carry personal safety equipment in your purse, pocket or bags. Products like a collapsible baton, pepper spray, fold-able knife, and alarm key rings are proved to be effectively used against any attacker.
Remember, Fighting back is better than helplessness.
